(Plant) Forward Thinking

At Penn Dining, vegan and vegetarian options are mainstream. We’re proud to serve plant-based dishes at every meal across campus and celebrate plant-based eating through our Wellness Cup competition every year. We invite you to view our online menus to see what vegan and vegetarian options we are cooking in the cafés today!

Residential Dining Commitments

Here’s what you can expect when visiting our residential dining cafés:

  • A daily vegetarian special is offered in all cafés with a new menu available at lunch and dinner. Specials include a house-made protein, starch, and vegetable.
  • Dedicated vegan stations are offered at Hill House, 1920 Commons, and Lauder College House, featuring a house-made protein, starch, and vegetable.
  • Don’t limit yourself to the daily special; additional vegan and vegetarian offerings are found alongside standard meat offerings throughout the cafe.
  • Looking for an elevated experience? Quaker Kitchen and Lauder College House feature a vegan entree every night.
  • Check out Kettles for the plant-based soup of the day.
  • House-made vegan dressings are found on our salad bars, and including our ranch, thousand island, and creamy Italian offerings.
  • Common plant-based proteins served in the cafe include tofu, tempeh, seitan, and a variety of legumes, such as beans and lentils.
  • Vegan alternative milks are available at all residential dining locations. Options include almond milk, oat milk, and soy milk.

Pro Tips:

  • Mix and match items from different stations to customize your meal. The salad bar and mezze stations provide the perfect garnish for any dish!
  • Concerned about cross-contact? Ask your server to change their gloves before serving your food. You can also ask a manager for your meal to be served directly from the kitchen to avoid cross-contact at the serving line – fresh serving utensils included.
  • Where’s the manager? Photos of our managers are located at the front of every café, and Chef Managers wear dark gray chef coats. If you’re having trouble finding one, ask any of our staff for assistance in locating a manager.
  • If there’s an item you want to see on our menus, let us know!
